We use a collection box on the day of the funeral so guests can leave a donation to the family’s chosen cause. After the service, the collection box goes with the family to the wake, where others can also contribute.

Some families choose to invite donations to a charity in memory of their loved one, either instead of flowers or alongside them. It might be a hospice that provided care, a charity the person supported, or a cause close to the family’s heart.
There is no obligation to give, and no set amount. Attending the funeral, sharing a memory or offering your support is just as meaningful.
Tell us your chosen charity and your wishes for flowers and donations when we arrange the funeral. We can help make those wishes clear in the funeral notice and order of service.

Through the online system
Donations can also be made through the online donation system. Follow the donation link on the person’s funeral notice to give to the chosen charity and leave a message of remembrance where available.

You can also donate directly through the chosen charity’s official website. You may be able to include the person’s name or a message of remembrance with your donation.
Giving after the funeral
If you would like to give later, check the funeral notice for donation details or contact us to ask which charity the family has chosen.

How the collection
is handled.
The collection box goes with the family to the wake after the funeral service.
The donations stay with the family in the supplied collection box. The family can then arrange to pass them to their chosen charity, making the gift personally in their loved one’s memory.
Donations made through an online link or directly to a charity follow that service’s own process, separately from the collection at the funeral.

Paying in the collection
and Gift Aid.
If you would like to pay the cash collected at the funeral and wake into the online donation system, please follow the platform’s instructions for paying in a collection, or ask us for guidance.
Gift Aid can add 25p for every £1 donated at no extra cost to an eligible donor. When giving your own money online, you can select Gift Aid where offered if you have paid enough UK Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax in that tax year to cover the Gift Aid claimed on all your donations.
Please do not select Gift Aid in your own name when paying in money collected from other people. Paying a collection into the online system does not turn it into a personal donation. Gift Aid on individual cash donations requires a valid declaration from each eligible donor and the necessary records; check with the charity or platform before paying these in.
If you are making a personal donation as well as paying in the collection, make it separately so you can choose Gift Aid for your own eligible gift.

For donations to a particular funeral collection, please use the link on the person’s funeral notice. Giving directly through the links below may not appear in that collection’s total.
